Steven Cash Nickerson is the Chairman of Nickerson Stoneleigh, Inc., a real estate investment and management company based in Dallas, Texas. He is also a Distinguished Teaching Professor at Washington University in St. Louis, Missouri, where Steven Cash Nickerson teaches a law school class on business lawyering and negotiation. The recipient of a distinguished alumni award from Washington University, he has worked in various industries, including human resources, real estate, and law.
In 1985, Steven Cash Nickerson began his professional career as an attorney and assistant general attorney at Union Pacific Railroad Company in Omaha, Nebraska. He specialized in mergers and acquisitions and general commercial and strategic legal matters there. In 1990, he became an associate and subsequently a partner at Jenner and Block in Chicago, Illinois, where he handled mergers and acquisitions and real estate legal matters.
Thereafter, Steven Cash Nickerson held several other positions, including chairman and chief executive officer at Workforce Strategies, Inc. in 1995 and partner at Strauss Nickerson LLP (limited liability partnership) in 1998, both in Lafayette, California. In the former organization, he provided human resources, payroll, and benefits services for small San Francisco Bay Area businesses. In the latter, he served as a transactional attorney specializing in business acquisitions, sales, and financing. He then joined PDS Tech as Executive VP, Law and Finance and subsequently became President and CFO and was the second largest shareholder at the time of its sale to AKKA Technologies. After the sale, he became Chairman & CEO of North America for AKKA. He is a lawyer in private practice, licensed in six states.
Steven Cash Nickerson is an award-winning writer of eight books; they include Wall Street Journal best seller, Negotiation as a Martial Art and most recently, The Seven Tensions of Negotiation.
